Mary Lambert used to design interiors for hotels. Now, she helps clients visualize and decorate their Baja dream homes.
You’ve built or bought your dream home in Baja. Now what? How do you make your new home look like those cool decorator photos you see online? Where do you begin to shop for finishes and decor? Who do you call if you need a piece of custom furniture built?
If the prospect of designing and decorating your dream home seems overwhelming, Lambert Interiors, based right here in El Centenario, can help.
Mary Lambert and her husband, Scott, retired and moved to El Centenario two years ago, when they built the first home in the then-new (and now sold out) Vista Colinas neighborhood. Since then, Mary has rediscovered her passion for interior design, skills she honed during her career in hotel management and design of various hotel chains while living in Phoenix, AZ.
“I’ve always loved the creative process of designing interiors, and dreamed for many years about making it my full-time career,” says Mary. After retiring from their careers and moving to La Paz, Mary and Scott began the process of designing and decorating their new home in Vista Colinas. Mary provided the vision and shopped locally for materials and skilled contractors. She added Mexican tile to her kitchen backsplash, found a carpenter to build some wood patio chairs for the couple’s new rooftop deck, added paint color to her walls, and in the process learned a lot about local sources and materials.
At the same time, Mary began playing with a software application that allowed her to transform two-dimensional floorplans into realistic 3D concepts, complete with finishes and decor. She sent one of her completed designs to the Baja Life Realty team, “just for fun,” she says. The team quickly realized the potential for transforming 2D floor plans into finished designs, and asked Mary to do 3D renders of all six of the floor plans available to be built in the new, master-planned community of Villas del Centenario. You can see them here.
As anyone who has built or remodeled a home, deciding on which colors and finished to choose can be an overwhelming prospect. For clients who decide to build in Villas del Centenario, Lambert Interiors is available to help choose your finishes and coordinate different materials, from floor tile to granite countertops to paint colors and more. Mary’s expert eye can tell you whether that tile will go with that backsplash, and help you blend different materials and styles to achieve the look you want.
Encouraged by the interest in her work, Mary took the next step to formally launched her business, Lambert Interiors, after going through the process to get her work permit and taxpayer ID set up with a local immigration attorney. Now, she is busy designing interiors for her own clients, using the same software to help them visualize what their new or existing home can look like with different finishes and decor. Whether your taste runs to modern or rustic style, or somewhere in between, Mary can help you choose your finishes, create a 3D render of the concept that you can use to implement your new design on your own, or use Lambert Interiors to help you shop and do it for you.
Wouldn’t you love to know how your new design will look before you go shopping and spend money on finishes and decor? Now, you don’t have to guess. You can see what your choices will look like, make changes before you shop, get expert advice on coordinating different looks and pieces, and perfect your design with Lambert Interiors.
