Many of our clients have had their plans to purchase or sell a home in La Paz put on hold due to the current global health crisis. As the COVID-19 virus continues to affect our friends and neighbors here in Baja, in the US, in Canada and around the world, we want to continue to bring you updates on what is happening on the ground here in La Paz. While you may not be able to come to La Paz right now, we want you to know we are here to help. How You Can Help

Are you wondering what you can do to help your friends and neighbors here in La Paz during this crisis? From donating to collect surgical masks for emergency personnel to feeding local families, here are a few ways you can help:

Food for Families: Our friends and clients, Steve and Jenny McGee, recently moved to La Paz from the US. In spite of being new to the area, they have jumped right in and have organized a Food for Families Drive for families in need in and around El Centenario. FANLAP (Fundación Ayuda Niños La Paz) is distributing care packages to 56 families whose children partake in the group’s dining room program during the school year. Unfortunately with the closing of schools due to the coronavirus, the group had to close its dining room, so is now focused on organizing deliveries of food to its participants. Por un Mejor Sudcalifornia is a local nonprofit that is raising money for critical hospital equipment including Personal Protective Equipment like masks, face shields and protective gowns for local hospitals and medical staff. In addition to equipment such as ventilators, these supplies are in very short supply in BCS. To help local La Paz doctors, nurses and medical workers get the equipment they need to treat patients and save lives, you can donate via PayPal here.

 

 

 

Many of you may know Pablo Ahuja, a long-time La Paz resident who is involved in many local charities and is the organizer of numerous La Paz live music events such as the Blues Fest, Jazz fest and others. He is organizing a drive to supply surgical masks and gloves to local emergency teams. After outfitting 8 paramedic teams with full PPE, thanks to your donations, Pablo’s team have sent its first supply of PPE to Salvatierra, ISSTE and IMSS Hospitals. All 3 have active Covid-19 ICU´s. Baja Dogs La Paz is a local non-profit rescue organization that is near and dear to our hearts. Working with Baja Dogs, we’ve personally been able to rescue and get dozens of dogs adopted to new homes here in La Paz and in the US and Canada. The travel restrictions have greatly impacted the street dog population here, and we are seeing many more dogs abandoned on the street because families cannot afford to feed them and care for them during this crisis.  Your donation will help Baja Dogs provide dog food to local families as well as helping to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt out abandoned street dogs.
